Marketing department of any company is the most important part of the organization as all the other departments work only after marketing department is able to complete its target. For example the finance department will only work when sales will come up according and this depends a lot on marketing department. Other than the chief marketing officer and presidents, the person who is most responsible to make formulate strategies and implement them well is the organizations senior marketing manager. This position of the manager has a number of responsibilities on their shoulders. The main responsibility of the manager is make sure that the product for which the strategies are made and implemented achieves success in the market and is able to position itself in the minds of the customer.

In the process of positioning the product there are many functions of the marketing department like deciding on the pricing issue of the product, advertising the product in the right way and proper use of technology and communication which are responsible for this purpose and the senior marketing manager is the person who heads all these activities and analyses and takes decisions in these regards. Within the marketing department there are many sub departments like public relations and advertising which need to co-ordinate with each other and the marketing managers of senior level make sure this happens. Being innovative in creating new ideas for promotion of the product is also the responsibility of the managers of this level.

There are many requirements for a manager to become a senior marketing manager and only few of the managers have them to become one. The first and foremost requirement is communication skill of excellent level. The other important requirement is that they must know the use of technology and they should have an out of the box kind of thinking so that they can come up with new ideas from time to time. They should be able to motivate the employees and make them co-operate with each other.

In terms of education an MBA professional will always be preferred with an appropriate year of experience with them. The compensation of a marketing manager of senior level along with the bonuses and incentives is excellent and is much more than that of any other manager of that level.
